Austin Wright: Founder of SCP and A1 Athletics

Austin Wright, the visionary behind South Central Prep, has always been deeply rooted in the world of basketball. A product of Bixby, he honed his skills on the court while attending a local high school before embarking on a collegiate journey at Missouri Southern State University. There, Wright left an indelible mark, setting five shooting records and showcasing his exceptional talent and dedication to the game.

Following his collegiate career, Wright’s aspirations led him to Los Angeles, where he pursued his dream of playing professional basketball. However, fate had other plans, as a career-ending injury altered his trajectory, leading him to transition into the realm of training.

Over the past four years, Wright has emerged as a force in athlete development, with a track record of success that speaks volumes. His mentorship has seen numerous athletes secure collegiate offers while guiding multiple professional athletes on their journey to excellence.

Renowned for his meticulous attention to detail and unwavering commitment to coaching excellence, Wright is synonymous with top-notch coaching in the basketball community. His coaching philosophy extends beyond the court, emphasizing the holistic development of players, nurturing their talents, and instilling values that transcend the game.

With a steadfast dedication to unlocking the full potential of every athlete, both on and off the court, Austin Wright epitomizes the ethos of South Central Prep, where dreams are realized on and off the court.

Hollis Mitchell: Head Coach High School

Hollis Mitchell, a Tulsa native and proud graduate of Booker T. Washington, boasts an extensive coaching background across various collegiate levels. With a wealth of experience spanning Division 1, Division 2, and NAIA programs, Mitchell brings a seasoned perspective to SCP. His coaching journey includes impactful stints at McNeese State, Ottawa University, University of Central Oklahoma, and Newman University, where he honed his craft and nurtured talent.

Beyond the college arena, Mitchell has made his mark on the AAU circuit, lending his expertise to Drive 5 Elite 17U on the Under Armour Rise Circuit. His commitment to player development and strategic prowess has garnered recognition and respect within the basketball community.

Complementing his coaching prowess, Mitchell holds dual Masters degrees, a testament to his dedication to continuous learning and personal growth. His educational journey encompasses a Master of Science in Applied Positive Psychology & Coaching Psychology, laying the foundation for his holistic approach to coaching, as well as a Master of Business Administration, equipping him with essential leadership and management skills.

With his blend of coaching acumen, educational achievements, and passion for the game, Mitchell is poised to make a profound impact as the Head Coach at SCP, guiding and inspiring the next generation of athletes both on and off the court.

Kam Dunn joins the South Central Prep team from Tulsa, Oklahoma, bringing a rich background in basketball both as a player and coach. Kam’s collegiate career spanned Northeastern Oklahoma A&M and Oklahoma Wesleyan University, where he contributed to three conference championships. He graduated from Oklahoma Wesleyan with a Bachelor’s degree in Sports Leadership.

Over the past three seasons, Kam coached at Edison Preparatory in Oklahoma, transforming an 8-14 team into a formidable force with three regional championships and two consecutive state tournament appearances. South Central Prep is excited to welcome Kam, acknowledging the immense value he adds to the program through his passion for the game and dedication to player development.

Quincy Taylor: Player Development

Coach Quincy Taylor, hailing from Wichita, Kansas, joins the esteemed South Central Prep family. Quincy’s basketball journey is nothing short of remarkable, having showcased his talent at the Division 1 level with stints at UAB and Longwood before embarking on an eight-year professional career overseas.

Beyond his accomplishments on the court, Quincy’s coaching journey has been equally impressive, with valuable experience gained from coaching in various organizations overseas. Additionally, his dedication to player development has been evident through his involvement in skills training over the past several years.

Quincy’s wealth of knowledge and diverse experiences bring invaluable depth to the program, enriching the learning and growth opportunities for our student-athletes. With his expertise and passion for the game, Quincy Taylor is a valuable addition to the SCP family, and we eagerly anticipate the positive impact he will make on our program.

Alaina Wright: Teacher

Meet Alaina Wright, an educator at Epic Charter Schools, who plays a pivotal role in shaping the academic journeys of her students. Armed with a Bachelor’s degree in Science of Education, Alaina brings six years of teaching experience to her role, alongside a understanding of NCAA certified curriculum standards.

Alaina’s expertise lies in crafting tailored education plans that cater to the unique needs of each student under her guidance. With a keen eye for individualized instruction, she ensures every learner receives the support and resources necessary to thrive academically.

She will work tirelessly to empower our student-athletes, fostering a culture of academic achievement and personal growth. With her guidance, we aim to equip our students with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in the rigorous college environment and beyond.
